Contrary to those taking Tatung-Peking-Siberia route for Europe, this mail headed south for Szechuan-Shanghai for Pacific route to USA.

1653 image1941 H.Q. “C Force”, Hong Kong (3 Dec) to Canada, detained in Hong Kong, f.w. Hong Kong KGVI 15c + Centenary of British Occupation 5c, tied by Kowloon Hong Kong cds, alongside with “DETAINED IN HONGKONGBY JAPANESE FROM DECEMBER 1941 TO SEPTEMBER 1945” cachet. On reverse with “PASSED BY CENSOR 137” triangular mark. “C” Force was the Canadian military contingent involved in the Battle of Hong Kong in Dec 1941. The major Canadian units involved were the Winnipeg Grenadiers and the Royal Rifles of Canada. Very historical military usage.
