 1954 Denmark (4 Feb) to Shigatse, returned to sender. Registered cover, f.w. Danish issue 3x 30 ore (one stamp lost), tied by Hellerup cds, alongside with registered label. Arrived Gyantse (5 May). Showing “no postal serivce
beyond Gyantse” and ”To sender thru DLO Calcutta” annotation. Unclaimed and departed from Gyantse (13 Mar). Arrived Calcutta, transfered to Bombay DLO (18 Apr). As Tibetan stamps were not recognized outside Tibet, incoming mails had to be exchanged
via agent. If not, they would be returned via Gyantse BPO.
1954.2.4 丹麥寄日喀則，退回寄件人。掛號封，貼丹麥票3x 30 ore（一枚掉票），銷Hellerup日戳，旁帶掛號標籤。5.5抵江孜。寫有“no postal serivce beyond Gyantse”及“To sender thru DLO
Calcutta”批示。無人認領，3.13離開江孜，抵加爾各答。4.18抵孟買死信局。由於英藏地方郵票不被國際承認，英印郵局承擔了西藏對外通信的部分功能。但同時印度與西藏沒有正式通郵關係，郵件交換需經中間人安排。沒有中間人的進口信件只能退回。(Image 1)

 1912 (31 Oct) and 1913 (18 Apr) a pair of letters from the Postmaster of Gyantse British PO B C Butt to England, stating that the issuance of Tibet stamps was in 1913 instead of Dec 1912. As Dalai Lama returned to Lhasa in the
