the earliest recorded type A cds as arrival marking.

 1863 Shanghai (7 Mar) to USA. Cover front only,, f.w. Hong Kong QV 18c + 24c, in total of 42c, tied by Shanghae BPO Webb type A cds and B62 obliterator. Transit London (2 May), Boston (16 May). When adhesive was introduced in
Shanghai (probably beginning of 1863), this cds was used to cancel adhesive for several months. B62 was further applied when the mails arrived at Hong Kong. However, this practice ceased due to an order given in Oct 1863 for unknown reason. It is one
of the 3 recorded covers using type A cds to cancel adhesive. In Nov 2023, AVA offered a cover from Shanghai to USA with same address which was also applied with type A cds and B62 on QV 24c stamp and was hammered at HKD60,000 (lot 943).
1863.3.7 上海寄美國。西式封封面，貼香港維多利亞女皇像18仙 + 24仙，合42仙，銷上海英局Webb A型日戳及B62殺手戳。5.2經倫敦，5.16經波士頓。在1863年初上海郵局開始使用郵票，並以A型日戳銷票。貼票在到達香港後再蓋上B62殺手戳。但在同年十月，此做法因不明原因被下令停止。此為三件以A型日戳銷票之信封之一。 2023年11月，艾華曾出售一件上海寄美國相同地址封，同樣以A型日戳及B62殺手戳銷票，落鎚價6萬港元（拍品號943）。(Image 1)

 A group of 3 Hong Kong QV singles and horizontal pair, tied by rare Shanghae BPO Type A cds in blue in which the horizontal pair was the earliest recorded usgae. Webb stated the usage of blue type A cds only lasted for several
months in the middle 1865 and was not recorded on cover.

 1869 Shanghai (1 Jul) to USA, f.w. Hong Kong QV 30c + 48c at top right and 6c at bottom right, tied by S1 type I and type II obliterator respectively, matching with Shanghae BPO cds on reverse. Showing "via San Francisco"
annotation but actually sent via Suez. Transit Hong Kong (7 Jul), London (20 Aug). Markings "4CENTS" for trans-altantic rate and "Due 3 cents" for local redirection rate were applied. The sender probably underpaid with the top right two stamps only
and he affixed the bottom left stamp afterward which explained why two types of S1 obliterator were applied. It is the only usage of two types of S1 obliterator on cover.
1869.7.1 上海寄美國，右上貼香港維多利亞女皇像30仙 +
48仙，左下貼6仙，分別銷I型及II型之S1殺手戳，背面另鈐上海英局日戳。雖寫有“via San Francisco”但實際上經大西洋送遞。7.7經香港。8.20經倫敦。“4CENTS”戳記為跨大西洋郵資，“Due 3 cents”則為美國本地轉寄郵資。 寄件人可能一開始只貼了右上兩枚票，後來補貼左下一枚，故解釋為何使用了兩款S1殺手戳。此為同時蓋有兩款S1殺手戳之孤品。(Image 1)

 1878 Chefoo (20 Apr) to Australia via Shanghai, carried by local post system to Shanghai with Shanghai LPO (1 May) cds on revese. F.w. Hong Kong QV 2c + 6c + 16c, tied by type III S1 obliterator in black, alongside with
Shanghae BPO Webb type B cds (2 May). Transit Hong Kong (8 May). Packet agency at Chefoo was not set up before 1903 and therefore this mail was first carried to Shanghai by local post.

Mar). Given the higher cost compared with British or private ships, existing examples carried by French ships are rare. One of the 6 recorded covers carried by French packet to Hong Kong.

 1881 Dutch Legation Peking (26 Dec) to Shanghai, returned to Peking. Hong Kong QV surch 1c/4c PSC (Yang P8) first carried by to Shanghai privately. Then applied with Customs Shanghai cds (12 Jan) for return to Peking while
indicia tied by Shanghae BPO Webb type Bi cds. It is the earliest recorded example of type Bi cds on postal card.
1881.12.26 荷蘭駐北京公使寄上海，寄回北京。香港維多利亞女皇像改值1仙蓋4仙郵資片（楊目P8），先私遞至上海。再鈐上海海關1.12日戳寄回北京，郵資圖銷上海英局Webb Bi型同日日戳。此為Bi型日戳在明信片上之最早記錄。(Image 1)
