2108 117L2 imagePomeroy's Letter Express, 117L2c, 5c Black on Yellow, Value Incomplete with Red "Cd" Cancel on 1844 Folded Letter
An Attractive Example of This Scarce Variety

July 25, 1844 folded letter from Buffalo to New York; the stamp cut off and hinged back into place. The “$1” value removed variety was a specific position within the sheet, used only for printings on surface-colored yellow paper, as reflected by the rarity of both off-cover examples and on-cover usages. Fewer than 20 covers are believed to be recorded bearing this variety.
