Stamp with Large to huge margins all around, tied by manuscript line with two strikes of red sans-serif "Paid" handstamp on March 1, 1845 folded letter from Providence, RI to Philadelphia. Slight wear along file fold. This is a Very Fine and Rare use of the Large Eagle stamp from Providence, Rhode Island, with the distinctive sans-serif "Paid" marking used at that office. Folded letter datelined Philadelphia, September 26, 1844, with a partly clear red oval American Letter Mail Company, Office 56 Wall St., N.Y. handstamp (ALM-NYC-FO9) with matching sans-serif "PAID" as a conjunctive use with a red "Boyd's Brooklyn City Express Post, Sep. 26 9 O'C" oval handstamp addressed to Brooklyn. The letter was carried by American Letter Mail in Philadelphia to Boyd's in Brooklyn, which delivered to the recipient.
