Paid Handstamps. 1875-1900 Entire letters and covers from London to abroad all with red Paid datestamps, five letters sent in the final six months (Jan - June 1875) of validity of Paid handstamps before they were banned on international mail by the
G.P.U; 1875 (Aug. 12) letter to Amsterdam with red Paid c.d.s and "2½d" incorrectly accepted as valid by both the British and Dutch Post Offices; 1877 (June 27) cover to Paris with Official Paid c.d.s, "Paid" crossed through and handstamped "T"
with a "6" charge; and 1900 cover to St. Lucia with a ½d stamp applied over the Paid c.d.s, violet boxed "Prepayment of Foreign / Correspondence can only / be effected by means of / Postage Stamps", minor toning and tear at right but very
