Wafer Seals. c.1840 Piece of blue paper addressed to Bexhill and inscribed "Corn Laws", bearing twenty differing Anti-Corn Law wafer seals and a similar "Thanks for Cheap Postage …" wafer seal, one reading "Send 1s, or 12
postage stamps to John Gadsby, Manchester, for Anti-Corn Law wafers, and put them on your letters". These wafer seals were published by Gadsby for the Anti-Corn Law League, and are known used on 1d black letters in 1840. Very scarce. Photo on Page
