27 Novelty shaped postcards. c.1910 Cards with enclosed pull out views, ten with separate address tags attached by string, one golliwog card postally used with a ½d stamp, the others all unused. An unusual lot with cards in the shape of a camera, telescope, car (2), train, lifebuoy, oyster shell, lifeboat, aeroplane, pill box, etc. (14).

28 Silks. 1904-18 Cards with rare 1904 Bradford Exhibition woven silk card which opens up to show two further woven views of the exhibition (one silk on the reverse of another, the third with a plain reverse), and another woven silk "Comin thro  the Rye", both cards by W.H Grant of Coventry, also WW1 embroidered silks (11) with various regimental badges. 32 c.1810-40 Valentine lettersheets with embossed paperlace borders, the first with a central engraving of a lady with an anchor and ship behind, addressed to "Mr Folkniew Esq, Miles Cort number five, Barth", handwritten verses inside, hand delivered; also a lettersheet by Kershaw with central mirror, and lettersheet by Dobbs & Co with applied scraps, silk flowers and an envelope containing two plates with knives and forks. Three attractive early cards. (3).

44 image1843 (Feb 12) Valentine lettersheet with a picture of two lovers in the Scottish countryside, engraved by J. Fairburn, 110 Minories, hand coloured with a verse below, entitled "The Lass O Gowrie". Posted from Norwich to "Master Edward Lubbock, Scottow Vicarage, near North Walsham" bearing a 1d red (just touched at left), reverse with Norwich datestamp and "Too Late". 45 1847 Valentines in the form of banknotes from the Bank of True Love, two very similar valentines on thin pink paper, one published by John Hicks in Glasgow, one in an envelope hand delivered to Miss June Fleming, the other posted from London to Bristol with a 1d red cancelled by crossed lines and "RH" by the sender and just tied by a numeral cancel, redirected to Downend, a wafer seal on reverse. 50 c.1870-1906 Valentines in the form of telegrams (3), a promissory note from the Lovers Banking Co or a Summons to the Court of True Love, two of the telegram type cards printed by Ernst Nister of Nuremberg probably for the American market, and a "Love s Telegram" envelope printed by Nister posted in the U.S.A in 1906, also a 1930 valentine postcard depicting a Western Union valentine telegram and envelope. An unusual group. (7).
