1737		1890 Die Proof of the QV "Postage-Postage" head in purple on thick card, initialled "J.P" by the engraver J. Peacock, 82x113mm. This head was used for St. Helena, Seychelles, British Honduras, Turks Islands and Gambia.	Est. £150-180 Closing..Apr-10, 11:59 PM EST.
1738		Cronje/Sterndale. 1900 (Aug 7) Cover (royal arms embossed on flap) to the USA franked 2½d, cork cancel (Proud K96), St. Helena and Southampton Ship Letter datestamps. The enclosed letter, on notepaper of "The Castle", is written and signed by R.A Sterndale, Governor of St. Helena - "I hope the enclosed autographs which you wished for will make a small addition to your collection. I have signed the card you sent me but General Cronje does not like being asked and so I send you his signature from one of the letters addressed to me". 1739		1902 (July 7) Registered cover to Italy franked 1889-94 ½d + 2½d, 1890-97 ½d + 1½d pair and 1902 KEVII ½d, cork cancels (Proud K106), oval "REGISTERED / ST HELENA" and "R" in a circle, datestamps of St. Helena, London and Naples. 1742		1911 Unissued 1d red overprinted "SPECIMEN" type D12, or handstamped violet "SPECIMEN" type SH2, both fine mint. This stamp was printed in the incorrect colour, so was destroyed upon receipt at St. Helena; it was however distributed by the U.P.U with Specimen overprint, a small number of stamps also escaping destruction in St. Helena and handstamped Specimen for use in presentation sets. Spectacular and unique archival pieces, scarce stamps in strips, the 1/6, 2/6, 5/- and £1 Multiple Crown CA watermark, two pieces signed below by the Director Posts & Telegraphs in Madagascar with his cachet.
