1714		1894 1/- Yellow-green, watermark Crown CA, mint upper right corner marginal single, variety surcharge double, original gum, upper marginal perfs split and reinforced with a hinge, right marginal thin, the stamp superb unmounted. 1715		1876-94 Specimen stamps comprising 1876 perf 14x12½ 4d, 1880 perf 14 1/-, 1884-94 Crown CA ½d, 1d, 2½d, 3d, 4d and 6d all with violet "SPECIMEN" handstamp type SH2, also Crown CA 2½d, 3d, 4d and 6d with "SPECIMEN" overprint type D12. A scarce group, all recorded Crown CA specimens, the four D12 overprints the only specimen stamps from this issue distributed by the U.P.U. (12). Photo on Page 248. 1716		1866 (Dec 1) Entire letter started at Cape Town and completed at St. Helena (including news of the ship running aground on a rock 10 miles from the Cape, having to return empty to Mauritius for repairs), posted from St. Helena to Mauritius franked 4d with cork cancel (Proud K5), oval "ST HELENA" datestamp (year shown as "186") and arrival backstamp (Jan. 3). 1720		1877 (June 16) Partly printed cover "United States Consulate at (Saint Helena)" to the USA, unusually with a St. Helena c.d.s applied before the cover was stamped, 2d + 1/- stamps (S.G. 10, 19) then applied partly over this datestamp, both with cork cancels (Proud K27) and tied by red London Paid c.d.s (July 6).
