1553 1954 (Jan 8) Covers from Singapore to G.B recovered from the January 10th Comet crash at Elba, one franked 25c pair with red "DAMAGED BY SEAWATER / COMET MAIL", the other registered with four meters totalling $2.30 and violet "DAMAGED IN COMET / AIRCRAFT CRASH", a scarce cachet only used on registered mail. (2).

1557 1954 (Mar 11) Fire damaged covers from Australia to G.B enclosed within white or buff ambulance envelopes with a printed cachet, buff "on postal service" ambulance envelope to England with circular "DIRECTOR OF POSTS / SINGAPORE" on the cover (edge faults), and large buff ambulance envelope (vertical fold) with London Official Paid c.d.s and the scarce violet cachet "SALVAGED M IL / SI GAPORE CRASH" ("A" omitted from "MAIL" and incorrectly inserted by hand in front of the "M", "N" omitted from "SINGAPORE").
