1951 Naval Mail. 1890-1911 Covers and cards comprising 1890 cover from H.M.S "Garnet" with G.B 5d cancelled upon arrival in London, 1890 G.B 2d postcard to H.M.S "Boadicea", 1895 registered cover from G.B to H.M.S "Blonde", 1896 British Central Africa 1d postcard from Chinde written on H.M.S "Thrush" about to depart for Zanzibar, 1904 stampless cover from Zanzibar to H.M.S "Barrosa" at Simons Town, 1907 registered cover franked 3a (letter enclosed) and 1911 card both from H.M.S "Hermes". (7).

1952 World War One. 1915 Stampless cover (with enclosed letter in native script) handstamped "FRANC DE PORT" and "COMITE INTERNATIONAL DE LA CROIX ROUGE / GENEVE / AGENCE DES PRISONNIERS DE GUERRE", with a Geneva machine, addressed to "Villani bin Hadji, Kilnsani, Zanzibar". Also a 1915 cover franked Nyasaland 1d tied by part Nyasaland FF squared circle, addressed to an Askari in the East African Rifles at Ziwani Barracks, Zanzibar. A few faults, two unusual items. (2).

1953 imageWorld War One - Royal Naval Air Service. 1918 Cover to London with Zanzibar 6c tied by London Received From H.M Ship machine (May 13) with scarce red boxed "PASSED / R.N.A.S / CENSOR / SQUADRON No. 8", reverse with return address of "W.G Brown, A.M.I.E F2809, Seaplane Sqdn No. 8, R.N.A.S, c/o S.N.O, Zanzibar, East Africa". 1955 Air Mails. 1931-36 First Flight and other covers to or from Zanzibar, flown by Tanganyika Government Air Service (4) or Wilson airways (5), including 1932 (Aug 17/20) Nairobi to Zanzibar and return first flight covers both signed by the pilot M.C.P Mostert. (9).

1956 1949 and 1967 Pages bearing proof impressions of all datestamps then in use in Zanzibar, the 1949 page inscribed "I herby certify that the above are impressions of all dies of date stamps used in Zanzibar during the currency of the Silver Wedding stamps" and signed by the Zanzibar Postmaster, with 19 datestamps including Mkoani, Chake Chake, Wete, Chwaka, Mkokotoni, Koani and Makunduchi. One 1967 page with 15 different Zanzibar datestamps, the other with twelve datestamps from Kengeja, Konde, Ngambo, Mkoami, Chake Chake or Wete, all obtained by Ted Proud. Three unique pages, an interesting reference group.

1957 Revenues. 1907 Large part mortgage document taken out on a farm by the wife of the Sultan, bearing 1893 India 50r grey revenue with Zanzibar overprint and 1905 revenue overprint 1a, 5r pair (Barefoot 14, 48, 57). Also Revenue stamps used including 1893 India overprint issue 8a, 1r, 2r, 10r, 30r, 1905 3r and differing 1r overprints (Barefoot 40, 45, 51), etc. (Document + 18 stamps).

1958 imageRevenues. 1922 Handpainted essay for an embossed 200 rupee revenue stamp, in red and Chinese white on tracing paper, affixed to card dated "14 JAN 1922", 83x107mm. Also a photographic essay of the arabic numerals, to be used in the date slugs of the embossed oval revenue die, affixed to card with the English equivalent "4.8.20" written below, dated "10th January 1922" and endorsed "Zanzibar", 86x93mm.
