Van Romonot & Co., St Marten (cachet on reverse) to Curacao, forwarded to St. Kitts where it was put into the post, franked 1871 6d green tied by St. Kitts straight line type c.d.s, carried on R.M.S.P "Arno" to St. Thomas, backstamps of St. Kitts and St. Thomas British P.O (June 28), a Curacao arrival c.d.s (July 4) on the front. An exceptional and very early cover; the Brookes collection only had one earlier stamped cover, and no examples of this rare c.d.s with St. Kitts in a straight line. With Holcombe Certificate (1988). 1713 image1877 Single and double rate covers to London, the first with 1871 perf 12½ 6d green pair paying the 1/- rate, the second with two pairs of the 1876 perf 14 6d green paying the 2/- rate, all with the unusual dumb obliterator, St. Kitts and red London Paid datestamps. The 2/- cover with a few minor tone marks, otherwise both fine and scarce; there was no 2/- rate cover in the Brookes Collection. 1719 imageAntigua used in St. Kitts. 1890 (Mar 27) Cover posted within Basseterre franked Antigua 1d, and single 1d stamps (3, one on piece), all cancelled "A12", this Antigua 1d stamp authorised for use in St. Kitts in January - March 1890 during a shortage of stamps. Also an 1899 (June 17) front to Germany bearing St. Christopher ½d and 1d pair + Antigua 1d pair (with 1991 B.P.A Certificate) and piece with St. Christopher ½d + Antigua 1d pair (the pair possibly added later), Antigua stamps no longer valid in St. Kitts at this date although the Brookes collection did contain an 1899 cover with St. Kitts and Antigua stamps that had passed through the post.
