1256 imageSingapore. 1863 Cover to England, sent at the 1d sailors rate, headed "From Geo Fossick on board H.M.S "Scout" Singapore", countersigned by the Commanding Officer with handstruck "John G. Hammer", franked by a G.B 1d red cancelled by the very scarce "A86" mailboat numeral, Ripon arrival backstamp (Jan 31). A rare use of a mailboat cancel on a cover from Singapore, carried on the P&O "Orissa" to Galle, P&O "Mooltan" to Suez and P&O "Pera" from Alexandria to Southampton. Photo on Page 178. (Image1)

1257 Singapore. 1953 (Sep 22) Singapore picture postcard to England franked G.B 2½d, written by a soldier on H.T "Empire Pride", cancelled fifty days after it was written by F.P.O 965 c.d.s (Nov 11) with a second strike alongside, and violet boxed "MISLAID MAIL / DELAY REGRETTED". 56 Bags of mail from troopships landed at Singapore were hidden under floorboards by a soldier at the Army Post Office. A good example of this cachet, which was often covered by a label applied in London.

1263 Negri Sembilan. 1891-1900 Collection including study of the 1891 overprints on Straits 2c, many plated and some varieties noted, with mint blocks of eight, twelve, eighteen and 43 and a used block of eight; 1891-94 and 1895-99 issues with Specimen, mint and used sets, 1893 1c pane of sixty, 2c short "N" variety (5, one in a pane of sixty); surcharges with 1898 4c on 5c pane of sixty and 1900 1c on 15c (3), etc., mainly mint, a few faults but many fine. 1266 Malaysia. 1978 4th Commonwealth Postal Administration Conference at Kuala Lumpur, imperforate proofs in the three issued designs with an additional 50c proof in an unadopted design, two proofs for both the 10c and 25c stamps with differing shades of green, all six proofs within individual John Waddington Ltd "Original Proof" card folders, a little staining to the folder covers, the proofs fine and very scarce. SB4a, SB6 and SB7 (by now the unlisted 4c orange make-up), black on wove proofs of the three front covers (paperclip rust stains), with samples of the card chosen for the issued booklets in red, green or blue each endorsed "Appd for Colour" and "4 Cents Covers", "6 Cents Covers" or "2, 4 & 6 Cents Covers" respectively; and a vertical strip of four and four single advertising pane proofs, all items initialled and dated "16/7", the eleven cover or advert pane proofs also endorsed "OK". Also thirteen advert proofs from a slightly later file, including a strip of three different "Ferrocrete" panes each endorsed "O.K. 16/7" and initialled and three other single panes pinned to pieces (pins rusted, faults) with notes on which booklet they are to appear in, two panes for "Bar-Lock" typewriters (one with manuscript corrections), and five other panes (two with manuscript corrections); and a manuscript essay for a "Brown & Sons, Ltd." pane with "CROWN AGENTS / RECEIVED / 24 APR 1928" handstamp and Req #8211 of 1928 SB6 booklet in manuscript. SB8, Proof of front cover in black on white wove paper with Local and Foreign Rates (inside front and inside back covers) printed below, with one minor manuscript alteration, endorsed "Appd as corrected, 21/11" and initialled, with a similar proof but on buff paper as issued endorsed "Appd for cover, 21/11" and initialled; and two foolscap pages with typed details of rates for inside covers, both headed "Straits 891" (the CA Req No. for this booklet). Also proofs from two slightly later files of the rates used for the front and back inside covers and thirteen advert proofs adverts (seven endorsed "OK" and dated with initials, one with manuscript corrections); and a typed draft for the "HK&SB" advert, with envelope endorsed " Straits 891 Proofs & Copy" and " Approved". SB8, Dummy booklet with covers printed outside and inside on buff, containing seven adverts, stapled at left; and a similar booklet (staples removed, paperclip stain) also with seven adverts, two initialled, three with "FMS 344" and another three with "Straits 1804" on reverse showing some commonality of adverts. Also Imperial Airways advert dated "3rd October 1934" from a different file. All three files with DLR prefix 99; CA Req No. 1804 was for a reprint of SB8 using 1932 5c brown from Plate No. 24 & 25 despatched by April 1935. (3).
