1076 1862 (Oct 23) Front with upper flap from Rangoon to London via Marseille, franked 2a + 4a each cancelled octagonal "B/156" and tied by oval "FORWARDED BY / RANGOON / GLADSTONE WYLLIE & Co" with a Rangoon c.d.s and boxed "INDIA UNPAID", black "CALCUTTA / INDIA PAID / 1" duplex applied in error. Handstamped by two differing boxed "DEFICIENT POSTAGE / FINE" handstamps, evidently weighing 1¾oz so underpaid by 2/9 with the Indian equivalent of R1-10 also shown, charged 3/3. Sadly incomplete but still an interesting item.

Handstamped boxed "INSUFFICIENT" (apparently then crossed through) and "MADRAS / INDIA UNPAID" c.d.s (June 14), boxed "DEFICIENT POSTAGE 3 / FINE - 9 } 1/-" with oval "MORE / TO PAY" applied in London Small repair to lower left corner and minor edge faults, an attractive and unusual cover. 1090 1873 Covers, the first from Pangim in Goa to Damaun sent via Sawantwaree and Bombay, handstamped "TOO LATE" and "MISSENT TO / BOMBAY", the second cover from Belgaum to Margai in Goa via Sawantwaree and Pangim, both bearing India ½a in combination with Portuguese India 20r, the Belgaum cover with the "17" numeral cancel error (the correct Belgaum number being "85"). The first cover with faults at left and small hole to address panel, the second with minor faults to upper edge. (2).

1092 1920 (Jan - Mar) Karachi to Bombay experimental air service comprising 1890 G.B Penny Postage Jubilee envelope and insert card both registered and flown on the seventh and final flight from Karachi, two covers flown on the first flight from Karachi (one registered to Goa), also a sheet of paper bearing KGV 3p - 1r stamps (12 values) all in pairs each cancelled by the "BOMBAY / AIR POST" c.d.s of 24 JAN. (5).

1093 image1927 (Jan 14) London to Delhi Air Ministers flight, cover with an embossed crown on the flap, addressed to London, a KGV 1a pair cancelled by red boxed "LONDON TO DELHI / FIRST THROUGH FLIGHT IMPERIAL AIRWAYS / CAIRO-KARACHI COMMERCIAL AIR SERVICE / JANUARY 1927", posted upon arrival at Delhi with "VICEROYS CAMP P.O" c.d.s on reverse, possibly carried on the return flight to London. This cachet was only used on mail posted by V.I.Ps on the flight; we have recorded just two other covers with this cachet, which is not recorded by Brown or the Indian Air Mail Catalogue. 1094 China. 1929 (Apr.) Green sheet printed in Rangoon depicting the Chinese aviator Wenlin Tschen and his aeroplane "Amoy", wording in English and Chinese, reverse with printed "London to Nanking by Air, Aeroplane "Amoy" X-CRIA, Chinese Aviator Wenlin Tschen", signed by Stephen Smith, a large tear repaired by tape, very scarce. In 1929 the Chinese Navy purchased four Avro Avian IV biplanes and decided to fly one from England to China. The plane was flown by Chen Wenlin and Christian Johannsen who left London on March 2nd but had to return after engine trouble over the Channel. They again left after repairs on March 13th arriving at Amoy on May 12th and continuing to Nanking ten days later, the greatest long distance flight in Chinese history. This sheet was apparently flown from Rangoon to Nanking, certified by Stephen Smith.

1095 1929 (May 21) Calcutta to Darjeeling flight by Bengal Air Transport Co., flown cover franked KGV 1a with arrival backstamp, and printed newspaper wrapper "PRESS-PACKET / The Englishman / PER BENGAL AIR TRANSPORT Co" with printed address of Darjeeling, inscribed and signed "Genuine flown copy, Stephen H. Smith". 78 Covers flown (64 cancelled at Calcutta), the newspaper wrappers scarce. (2).
