803 1915 C.E.F Surcharges, the mint and used selection including mint set and used stamps to the 8d, ½d on 5pf different fount "d" mint and used, 1s. inverted "S" mint (pin hole), 2d mint block of fifteen, various cancels including Banjo, Victoria skeleton and French type Duala c.d.s, a few forged cancels, pieces with Nigeria stamps used in Duala (4), etc. S.G. £3,500 (approx). 816 World War One. 1915-17 Covers to or from B.A Wallis-Wilson who joined the first Ceylon Contingent in 1915 as a private, was later commissioned into the Hampshire Regt. winning an M.C and bar, and was killed leading an attack on 26th September 1917. Five Field Service cards posted to G.B or Ceylon (4, three from Gallipoli, Egypt or Salonica); and a cover franked 5c from Ceylon to Wallis-Wilson with the M.E.F, ½d due mark, various datestamps and cachets, returned with a Colombo R.L.O label. Also an obituary from the "Times of Ceylon" printed on card and a Photo taken in the trenches. (8).

819 1853-66 First issues, the collection written up on thirteen pages with 1853 5c and 10c; Bromides of the 1c, 5c and 20c stamps and the 5c showing the full lozenge design part of which was incorporated into the final stamps, all from the Perkins, Bacon archives; 1854 5c recess by N. Desmadryl (10), Litho by H.C Gillet, recess by Gillet (2) or recess by Perkins Bacon from new plates (12, one on cover); 1856-62 Chilean P.O printing 5c (8) and 10c (41, also eleven bisects on piece); 1861-62 Perkins Bacon 1c (13) and 20c (4, one on piece with bisected 10c); 1866 Chilean P.O 5c (11, one with paper fold); also reprints (12) and forgeries (22, with an unusual 5c sheet of twelve). An interesting lot showing various shades and printings, multiples, plate varieties and cancels, mainly used, some faults. (152).

821 image1855 (July 30) Double rate entire letter from Santiago to Valparaiso bearing two examples of the 5c burnt sienna recess printed by H.C Gillet from Perkins Bacon plates (S.G. 10), both with four good margins, tied by barred circle obliterators, a red Santiago c.d.s on the front. Horizontal fold clear of the stamps, otherwise fine and a scarce double franking of this uncommon stamp. S.G. £425 for a single franking on cover. Photo on Page 118. (Image1)

822 1853-65 Entire letters or entires (19) and a front all bearing first issue stamps including 1853 entire from Conception to Valparaiso bearing 1853 Perkins Bacon 5c vertical pair; 1855 entire from Santiago to Valparaiso bearing nine 5c Perkins Bacon new plate stamps (S.G. 17) but still underpaid by 5c with a circular "10" charge mark, all stamps with apparent water damage prior to use and cut into, one crossed by heavy fold, but still a remarkable franking; 1858 entire with 10c + 10c bisect; 1862 entire letter from Santiago to Coquimbo franked 5c single and strip of three + 10c; other items franked 5c (5), 5c pair (2), 5c strip of three (3), 5c + 10c (5) or 10c strip of three, one entire letter with fine red "CASA-BLANCA / CHILE" c.d.s, many stamps cut into or with faults.
