Phoenix Auctions Sale - 2197

Worldwide On-Line Auction - August 24-25, 2026

Welcome to Phoenix Auctions #2197, being held on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th August, both days starting at 10am.

This will be our 8th Auction for 2026.

In this auction the Victoria & Western Australia sections will be included on Monday instead of the normal Tuesday.

  • Session 1 (lots 4001-6333) Monday with Australia through to Western Australia (which has previously been part of the Tuesday session).

  • Session 2 (lots 6334-7229) Tuesday with Australian Territories and then Rest of World.

As usual there are many variety lots, particularly in the Roos and KGV Sideface issues, as well as many rare FDCs, Coins, Revenues etc. Included is a good selection of Stamped to Order Envelopes with a wide range of users. There is a good range of Australian Colonies with a wide range of stamps, postal history and postmarks, including a good range of better rated NSW & Vic numerals.

Rest of World collectors are always well catered for. There are nearly 900 lots in this section and the General & Single Country sections of the auction, including stamps, Postal History, Stationery, etc, which ensure there is plenty to choose from. Military collectors will be pleased with the wide range of covers in this auction. There is a good selection of rarely offered early Saudi Arabia (lots 6993-7107) and plenty of one-country collections. With such a wide variety of lots, you will definitely be spoilt for choice.

Notes:

  • Most collection & accumulation type lots have a reserve of 50% of the estimate.

  • The buyer's commission is just 22%.

  • New bidders need to be aware that, while there is no room bidding for these auctions, viewing, phone bidding and live internet bidding are still available. Lastly, live bidding will skip over lots without any form of bid, so please enter some sort of bid, even if it is just $1, to ensure that these lots appear during live bidding. We hope you find its wide range of lots useful and interesting.

  • Viewing is available 10am-4pm from Sunday 16th to Sunday 23rd August (excluding Saturday 22nd). Our address is Suite 2, Level 1, 441 Canterbury Rd, Surrey Hills, 3127. Call us if earlier viewing is required and call or email us if you need more information about a lot or lots.

  • Auction 2197 is an online auction and will be live on the net via our own auction systems. Just log in as usual and then open the Live Bidding window. The link is active from 20 minutes before the start of the auction. Live Bidding gives you the ability to bid on each lot just as if you were in the room. We also have phone bidding available.

  • We would like to get your successful purchases in the mail as quickly as possible, and you can help by providing us with your preferred payment option when you bid.

USA, Canada, UK, European Union & Norway clients need to be aware that all tariffs and associated fees are required to be prepaid, so these will be added to your invoice before it is finalised. We expect these types of changes are likely to spread to other countries as well. All these changes increase the time it takes to process overseas orders and therefore the time it takes to get a final invoice total. Providing c/c details with your bids or soon after the auction enables us to process your invoice as soon as we have an invoice total.
