1502 ogO Bermuda, 1910-1934 Caravel ship design voluminous and specialized collection containing thousands of stamps in singles and multiples up to full sheets of some values (S.G. #44-51a, 56, 58, 76b-87a), includes the issues with both watermarks, this collection is a combination of several sources including a collection on pages, plus numerous pages of a specialized collection that were offered as lots in a Robson Lowe auction years ago, and stock books and binders with stamps sorted into them, many of the specialized pages are for the plate varieties that exist on this design, for example there is a a whole series of pages for the 2 1/2p values with a page devoted to each position where mint and used of the 2 1/2p Ultramarine with multiple Crown and "CA" watermark and both the Sage Green and Ultramarine colors with multiple Crown and script "CA" are mounted, each page may have numerous mint and used singles and blocks of various sizes, etc., while throughout the material has been collected both mint and used, emphasis is on the mint and each value has numerous blocks as well singles showing shades, varieties, different die types, especially of the 1p value, there are even some "War Tax" overprinted issues which were issued on the 1p value of this design, there is far too much here to go into great detail, but this is an ideal lot for the person who wants to study these issues and build a highly specialized and award-winning collection, condition is overall quite nice, mint has o.g., numerous never hinged items are found within the great number of multiples, and the vast majority of material is fine-very fine or better; a rare opportunity to acquire such a hoard with a Stanley Gibbons catalog value of over £22,000 (Scott #40-48a, 81-93, MR1-2). 1503 ogObl S.G. #52be/121, F1 Bermuda key plate specialized accumulation, includes six George V values, plus thirteen singles, a pair, two blocks of four and a block of six of the the George VI values (S.G. #52be/121, F1), the vast majority are mint with only a few used, throughout are found the listed major plate flaws, all but one of the George V values show these flaws, including a 12/6 Grey and orange with broken crown and scroll (S.G. #93b), there are are seven similar flaws in the George VI issues, including better ones as 2/- Purple and deep blue on pale blue with broken lower right scroll (S.G. #116de), 2/6 Black and red on grey blue, the scarce perf. 14 1/4, with broken lower right scroll (S.G. #117ae, slight perf. toning), plus 5/- Dull yellow green and red on yellow, perf. 14 1/4, with broken top right scroll within a block of four (S.G. #118bd), plus others, a number of the non-variety values of this issue are also the better 10/- to £1 values with high catalog value for the normal stamp, o.g. or used, a few never hinged are present, an occasional small flaw will be found, but the vast majority are fine-very fine or better; Stanley Gibbons catalog value is in excess of £13,000.
