(flaps torn) to London apparently posted in Boulogne although franked by two pairs of G.B. 1d Reds (pl.76; 1 stamp with fault where over-edge) tied on arrival by London inspector's "50" numerals. Also on the front is a v. fine, very rare Boulogne "FR/2F" accountancy mark matching the equally fine "BOULOGNE-S-MARE" cds, and there are two London cds's (26th June) on the reverse. It appears that this letter was treated as entirely unpaid & so there is a m/s "8" charge also on the front. Exceptional usage with the seldom seen Boulogne accountancy mark. Nov.), "ETATS UNIS/ SERV .AM. CALAIS" (18 Nov.). It appears that the letter was returned from Belgium to the US and then sent a second time (via Calais) to Brazil because it has been readdressed in red to "Rio de Janeiro". The very rare "F/23" accountancy mark was presumably struck in transit in France on this second journey from the US to Rio, because no additional postage had been paid and there is a blue crayon "54/5" postage due charge at top left.
