The 10c with small thin and the 1f with no gum. SG between 1-8 (£3,385); a minimum 5 additional fine used sets (Cat. £700/set) including 2 different Dies. 1881 new currency set of 6 values mint SG between 9-20 (£1,900) with a minimum 5 additional fine used sets (Cat. £240/set), demonstrating shade variations. 1882 colour change set of 7 to 50st mint and a large number of used issues demonstrating shade variations, different Dies and minor flaws. 1884/84 Provisional surcharges set of 4 unused, with Robson Lowe Certificate of Opinion stating "all genuine surcharges". These are 3st on 10st with part original gum SG 38 (£120), 50st on 1f with no gum SG 40 (£850 as mint), 5st on 30st with part orig. gum SG 42 (£225) and 15st on 25st with part orig. gum and small defect SG 45 (£250). Also, several used values and a group of identified forgeries. 1889-91 'Small Lion' types mint set of 10 and mint set of 10 optd. "SPECIMEN" SG 51s/61s (£300) plus a perforated proof of 1st value in black, signed "Buhler". Further examples of Vienna & Sofia printings of this issue and a range of 1892-1909 surcharges. 1901-05 Prince Ferdinand issue includes a mint set of 12 to 3 leva overprinted "ULTRAMAR" (i.e. as Specimens). Also a range of colour trials of the 5st and 10st Postal Stationery Dies for this issue on card (10 pieces). Other sections incl. study of the 1896 'Baptism of Prince Boris' issue including a fine range of Commemorative Postal stationery cards in various colours, and studies of flaws/varieties in the 1902 25th. FIRST-ISSUE 3-COLOUR 1st-YEAR FRANKING ON 9d-RATE COVER TO G.B. VIA FRANCE; Attractive and colourful 13 Sept. 1857 env. (part reverse torn away & part address re-written) prepaid to G.B. “via Marseilles” at the all-in 9d rate with 1st-Year usages of the First-Issue 1857-9 1d Blue + 2d Green plus an 1857 6d Purple-Brown (all with shaved to clear margins) all tied by fine Colombo barred oval cancels matching the large part “COLOMBO/STEAMER LETTER” c.d.s. on the reverse. The red crayon “8”[d] partly beneath the stamps shows that 8d of the 9d postage was credited to G.B./France (the latter received 3d from G.B.’s 8d credit). It went from Galle (20 Sept.) on the S.S. “Alma” to Suez (5 Oct.) and then on from Alexandria (7 Oct.) to Marseilles (14 Oct.) via Malta (10 Oct.) on the S.S. “Valetta”. The 6d stamp would have been sufficient for the Southampton route, but the sender chose to pay the extra 3d for the ‘Via Marseilles’ route, using the 1d & 2d stamps that were designed for internal or newspaper rates. THE CZECH PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA: A beautifully presented and well written-up 18 page display following the tour of the British Isles & Belgium in 1937/8 told through personal postally used PPCs sent home by members of the orchestra. All cards with v. fine cachets in pink (1937) or blue (1938) reading "Zajezd Ceske Filharmonie do Anglie, Skotska, Belgie rijen - listopad 1937 [or 1938]" inc. a card posted in Middlesbrough with a fine "CENSUROVANO" handstamp applied in Prague in the aftermath of the Munich Crisis.
