EXTENSIVE FIVE VOLUME COLLECTION 1850s - c1950: A box containing mint and used sets and singles, including varieties, proofs, shades, overprints, printing plates, perforations etc. Of particular note, is a block of 20 postage dues (1922, 1 centesimo bright green. D404) from the right of the sheet of 50, printed on white medium thickness paper. This block, (numbered 0245), shows a spectacular colour print flaw where the right hand column is dull olive-green. SG £900 (3) plus 1844 E 'p Falmouth Packet' to London rated '2/7'(d) on arrival with fine s/l "MONTEVo." h.s. in Red on front and 1856 E to Le Havre with oval Montevideo d.s, framed "COLONIES/ART-18" h.s. - scarce only in use that year - with Calais d.s. and rated '15' decimes on front.
