image 1947 Typed letter with the original envelope from His Majesty King George VI to His Majesty the King of Saudi Arabia advising the King that the British Envoy to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was to be recalled at "the termination of his Mission". The letter, dated from Buckingham Palace is personally signed by King George VI in the manner traditionally reserved for diplomatic communications between Monarchs; "Sir, My Brother / Your Majesty's / Good Brother / George R.I." A remarkable item in private hands and certainly the most amazing "incoming mail" to Saudi Arabia! Royal Mail very rarely leaves Royal Archives. It is reported that this letter was given by H.M. King Abdul Aziz as a farewell present to his long-time trusted British advisor, whom the King knew to be a collector. (Image)
