1757-1833 PRE-STAMP MAIL COLLECTION: Very well presented on display pages, selection of ELs mostly to overseas destinations, displaying a wide variety of handstamps, accountancy marks, charge marks, etc. Several rare marks noted. Early marks inc. 31 Jul. 1759 EL from Lisbon to Genoa with smaller 3-line "CORREO/GRAL DE/MADRID" and 30 Jul. 1865 EL from Portugal to Venice with a larger version (P.E. type 3) of this mark; 1770 from Cadiz to Genoa via Madrid with superb crown over boxed "MADRID" transit mark and 1772 EL also from Cadiz to Genoa with a superb similar mark (P.E. type 6); various examples of crown over "M" marks and 1780 EL from Cadiz to Livorno with scarce crown over boxed "MADRID.1o" (few recorded); several different border crossing marks represented.
