image EXTREMELY RARE SCROLL-FRAMED DUBLIN "WRONG DATE" - 15 Mar. 1827 front (repaired tear, else fine) to Winchester, "CAVAN/54" at top left, with heading date changed from 15th to 16th and duly initialled by the sender, but unfortunately he was doubly confused because it is endorsed "Put in 15th" and so has "6", "1/9" and then "1/10" charges with a very fine red Dublin fancy scroll-framed "WRONG DATE"mark (JL122) beside the address with a matching very fine red Dublin Inspector's crown alongside. GREAT BRITAIN "SHIP LETTER/[crown]/LIVERPOOL" COVER TO NEW YORK; Attractive and fine 26 July 1845 EL (faint file fold) to NY datelined at Londonderry (typed transcript included; I send this......in hopes to get it on board the Great Britain tomorrow) with "LIVERPOOL" fine crowned Ship Letter cds on rear and clearly endorsed 'Per Gt Britain' at lower left, having red manuscript '8' (8d Ship Letter rate prepaid) and rated '6'(cents) a US Ship Letter arrival charge. Rare example of mail carried on this famous steamer on her very first voyage. Exhibition Quality.
