image 1858 (Dec 22): Combination cover, Great Britain 1855 2 d. blue, pl. 6, a used example on cover from Gibraltar with Carver Brothers cachet at left, mailed to Cadiz (MacPherson correspondence) endorsed 'per San Fernando' tied by "G" in bars obliterator with single ring GIBRALTAR cds below (Dec 22) in blue and Spain April 1856 4 cs. rose (Michel 40) alongside and pen-cancelled paying for onward transmission. Reverse with Cadiz arrival cds (Dec 23). A fine and rare combination usage.rnNote: One June 14, 1856, the Spanish Postmaster in San Roque informed Edmund Cresswell Jr., the Postmaster in Gibraltar that in future all mail addressed to destinations within Spain would have to be prepaid by Spanish stamps (the 2 d. Gibraltar rate was more frequently prepaid in cash). Reverse with Cadiz arrival cds (March 6).
