1877 (March 18): Dominican Republic 1868/69 ½ r. black on pelure lavender paper tied by oval FRANCO handstamp in blue, used on 1877 combination cover from Santo Domingo to Genova with Great Britain 1870 1½ d. lake, pl. 3 in a severed and horizontally creased block of nine cancelled by four strikes of the "C87" obliterator in black and by 'Genova' arrival cds. British P.O. 'ST. DOMINGO' cds in black below (March 19) and 'London / Paid' transit cds in red (April 12). Illustrated in "Dominican Republic - The Classic Stamps" by Danilo Mueses on page 190.
