1914 Stampless cover to Morogoro, enclosed letter in native script, handstamped "T" and light triangular censor cachet, backstamped at Zanzibar (Sep 23). Apparently intended to be carried by H.M.S "Pegasus" which continued to provide mail runs from Zanzibar to German East Africa by unofficial consent of both sides. This ceased when H.M.S "Pegasus" was sunk in Zanzibar Harbour on Sept. 20th, this cover then awaiting the next voyage but presumably returned to the sender. A virtually identical cover is illustrated and described in "Zanzibar's Postal History Legacy" by Gary Dubro (pages 158/9).
