'BEEHIVE' MARKS ON X-BORDER COVERS EX CANADA; Jan./Feb. 1837 pair of ELs (filing creases) to New York from near Quebec and each with Cross-Border rates but both also with very fine (crease) or partly fine (no crease) in black or reddish-brown and each with manuscript date in centre. Rare usages of this unique distinctive mark of the Vermont Border exchange P.O. image EARLY 'GRILL' STAMPS: Group of four inc. 1861-66 2c black mint (heavy hinge) with "E" grill (Sc.87 $1,700), 3c rose used with "E" grill and 15c black used with "F" grill (Sc.98 $275). Also an unused (no gum) example of 1873 6c dull pink with "J" grill (Sc.159b $1,800 for gummed - this stamp has misaligned perfs at lower edge). The 6c stamp is accompanied by two US Certs.
