1914, EMPRESS OF IRELAND, letter from "WOODROW SASK. MY18 14" nach Westcliffe-on-Sea (Essex, England), transit "GRAVELBOURG SASK. MY18 14" on back, carried by the Empress of Ireland from Quebec (5/28/14) to Rimouski (short stop in the late night of 28th May to take over mail) on the route to Liverpool, then sunk after crash with the norwegian coal freighter Storstad in the early hours of 29th May, in front green one-liner "Recovered by divers from wreck of S.S. Empress of Ireland", on back green oval "BRANCH DEAD LETTER OFFICE OTTAWA ONT, OCT 16 1914", very good condition. (Image)
