AIRMAIL COVER ADDRESSED TO NEW YORK, from the AMERICAN RED CROSS/COMMISSION TO PALESTINE, with 25c French stamp anf 1-pia EEF (Typo) stamp tied by French FPO 606 cancellation (then stationed in Adana, Silicia). In 1919 the French army in control of Lebanon established a line of communication with France via the Balkans. Military planes flew official mail (free of charge) and civilian correspondence (fully prepaid) part of the way. This letter reached Constantinople, was marked "Allied Armies in the Orient/Air Mail".
