Dutch Country Auctions Sale: 31

Miscellaneous
$1 Gold

Sale No: 31
Lot No: 164
Symbol:
Cat No: 1855

image 1855 Type 2 XF. The 8 in the date is weak typical of the issue. A slight depression in the L obv field makes the coin's surface look a bit uneven. Nonetheless, a nice original for the scarce Type 2 gold dollar. (Image)

Lot No: 175
Symbol:
Cat No: 1854

image 1854 Liberty NGC AU58. Scarce "No Motto" issue w/ a mintage of only 54,250. Virtually unknown in true mint state, the PCGS population report shows less than 200 in all grades, the highest being MS64. (Probably 50% of that number are re-submissions.) An excellent opportunity for the advanced gold collector. (Image)

Cat No: 1901S

image 1901-S AG original. Wear obliterates most of the legend on the rev but the central details are clear. There was little interest in the issue at the time it was struck resulting in very low survival rates. Coupled with the fact that all Barber coins saw very heavy use, those 1901-S quarters that do remain are usually in very low grades. Even a G+ is a mid four-figure coin. It will be a long time before another is offered. (Image)
