1916 Liberty Standing VG. Original and attractive for this very scarce issue. After many trials and tribulations, the Herman McNeil-designed Liberty Standing quarter was struck to extent of only 52,000 pieces in late-December 1916. The coins weren't released until the following month. The design would incur several more changes before striking was resumed with the 1917 date making the 1916 a veritable one-year type. Though many were saved, the design elements wore away quickly for the ones that entered circulation, rendering most surviving specimens that are not mint state rather low-grade. (Image)

1918 over 7 PCI XF45. At first glance, this coin looks unappealing. But under magnification it shows no evidence of tampering, and the detail is consistent with the assigned grade.
