Curtiss progressed from a bicycle racer, to motorcycles and as early as 1904, he began to manufacture engines for airships. One postcard depicts Curtiss' aeroplane in which he won the title at 'Rheims, France, c. 1909. Another is of Curtiss with Frenchman Louis Paulhan at the Los Angeles aviation meeting held at Dominguez Field, Jan. 10-20, 1910. Most pieces are addressed to the store; some are addressed to Japan. Includes cards from other Japanese in California enterprises such as The Shin-Nichibei-Hyoron. According to the United States Office for Emergency Management, Office of Alien Property Custodian, "The books and pamphlets found in the stock of Gosha do, a Japanese book store proved of great value to the war effort.
