1941 (July 25) Greek military postcard validated for postage with framed "Occupazione/Militare di/Zante/1-5-XIX" in blue, sent by a "Black Shirt" member of the "60° Btg. CC.NN. da Sbarco" to Pola (Italy), "Zakyntos" cds at right (Astolfi fig. 1, p.8), Italian censorships alongside; illustrated in the Sirotti handbook on page 114. These Greek postcards were only accepted by applying the Italian overprint used for the Zakyntos (Zante) stamp issues (incl. the date of occupation) in order to avoid taxation. Very few items recorded. (Image)

1942 (Jan 12) Cover from Zakyntos to Volos, franked at single rate with "Isole Jonie" overprinted 50c, in mixed franking with charity "Beneficenza" 50L, the latter rarely applied on correspondence only during the Easter and New Year's festivities to collect money for the antituberculosis campaign for postal employees, both tied by dispatch cds (Astolfi fig. 3, p. 7), alongside with "3" censor's mark of Corfu, and reverse two strikes of framed "Ufficio Censura/Z82P" on departure, Kerkyra and Volos backstamps. The only mixed franking "Zante-Isole Jonie" recorded on non-philatelic mail according to Astolfi, further enhanced by the rare censorship. (Image)
