1939 Sept. 19 Airmail cover sent from Hong Kong R.A.F. Station Kai Tak to Birmingham, England franked with King George V1 definitive 15c, 30c and 7 x 10c (3 pairs) stamps paying 115 cents airmail rate tied by KOWLOON/HONG KONG cds, with circular Crown "PASSED BY/R.A.F./CENSOR/No.87" chop alongside, on reverse with "VICTORIA/HONG KONG/19 SEP/39" transit cds (only 30 minutes after posting at Kowloon). Some age stains and minor creases. Very Rare. From an award-winning exhibit.The R.A.F. type R1 No 87 censor marking is the only known from Hong Kong in the "Censorship in the Royal Air Force 1918-1956" handbook (2015). Only three items from Hong Kong are recorded in the handbook and only one of them is postmarked Kowloon. This item predates it by 10 months and has an earlier date than all three previously recorded items. SEK0 (Image)
