image Mulready. Mulready/Hand Illustrated 1840. 1d envelope Stereo A181 superbly cancelled by a London Maltese Cross MY 13 1840 to Bath. Shows bottom left an additional drawing of the two printed figures smoking pipes with implements on a table and a "smoking" barrel. Greek Writing - What The Devil Is It. A very early (possibly the earliest known) drawing applied to a Mulready and perhaps a reference to opium smoking. Some minor faults but not distracting. Super Item.
