Cat No: 93a
1901 British South Africa Company Arms £20 yellow-bistre, ultra-high value. Superb fresh MNH, pristine never hinged original gum, excellent centring & beautiful bright colour. SG 93a cat £16,000 for M, should be at least double, £32,000+ = A$60,000+ MNH. While there are some cheap sound UN examples of the £5 & £10 values available from company display boards & from BSA company archives, there are no such examples of the £20, & furthermore no examples exist opt/perf specimen either (nor any postally used or CTO). The vast majority of examples of the £20 were used fiscally with various cancels, some of which have been cleaned, repaired or regummed & then fraudulently offerred. Genuine mint original gum examples of the £20 value rank as one of the great high value rarities of the British Empire, & almost all of the major collections of British Empire sold in the last 20 years have lacked a genuine mint example. In such pristine MNH condition this is a unique opportunity to obtain a magnificent example of this exceptional rarity. (We previously sold a MNH example with creases for $23,000+com in auction 254) This sound example has to be worth significantly more. Copy of 2006 BPA photo-cert for pair this stamp came from, while diff new certificate can be obtained on request. (P) (Image1)
