VALENTINE'S DAY IDEAS - CUPID FIRING ARROWS; 14/23 Jan. 1913 pair of envs. with Western Australia 1d (2) frankings, both depicting in colour a cheeky Cupid trying to hit the addressee with arrows; one with her portrait hidden behind the stamps ("Doubtful, Very!"), the other having hit her name exactly ("Got her that time!"). Both cancelled and tied by mostly very fine "POSTAL DEPARTMENT/WESTERN AUSTRALIA" cds's. The first has a Leeds arrival backstamp of 15 Feb. 1913. COMIC "TURKEY TROT" DANCE-LESSON PAIR OF COVERS; May/June 1913 pair of envs. with matching pair of comic coloured drawings of an aboriginal (?) girl talking to a large turkey; in the first she asks "Could you-all learn me the turkey trot?", and in the second the turkey replies "Why, certainly I kin. MATCHING PAIR OF COMIC TURKEY-DANCE COVERS; June/July 1913 pair of envs. from the same series as the previous lot, each with 'Roo 1d (one badly torn); the first with girl and turkey dancing ("An' could you learn me to dance the Grizzly bear?"), and the second with the couple terrified by the sudden appearance of a bear (who exclaims "I kin!").
