1879 Afghan War cover to London with 2a & 4a with a m/s 'Habib Kala, 26/2/79' cancel. The stamps were pen cancelled to stop native runners from removing them. Kohat MAR 1, Bombay 8 MAR & London MAR 29 79 cancels are on the back. The letter was written by Bt. Lt. Col G de C Morton at Habib Kala after the assault and capture of Peiwar Kotal. This is the only recorded Kabib Kala manuscript cancellation. A very rare cover from the Kurram Valley Field Force in the 2nd Afghan War. (Image)
