HORSESHOE ROUTE With Italy entering WWII in June 1940 all routes across the Mediterranean were suspended. African routes were Cairo-Durban & then by ship to UK. Eastern routes to Australia went via Singapore until the fall of Singapore in February 1942. At which point the route stopped at Calcutta. Kisumu-Karachi, 15c x 2 & 50c x 2 of KUT, tied with Mombasa 18 Nov 40 cds cancels. On Adamjee Wallijee & Sons stationary envelope. Opened & resealed with Passed By Censor tape & cachet. By Air Mail cachet. Air Mail label top left. Addressed to Bombay. Bombay 28 Nov 40 receiving. Mombasa-Kisumu by RAF feeder service. Connecting with Flight NE36.
