Cradock: unframed 'WIRREANDA/MA1/81/S-A' light strike on Perf 10 6d with a largely very fine strike alongside on cover to "St Andrews/Fifeshire", 'RAILWAY/ 4 / S-A' transit & very fine 'ST ANDREWS/AP17/81' arrival b/s. Rated RRRR. Perhaps for the golf enthusiast! PO 1.4.1879. [The town of Cradock was proclaimed early-1879. It was on the Hundred of Wirreanda which probably caused the resultant first datestamp being wrongly inscribed. The Handbook records the first 'CRADOCK' cds from '1880' but that is probably incorrect because 'WIRREANDA' is recorded until JE29/1881]
