Cocos (Keeling) Islands: 1951 QANTAS Survey Flight, long commercial envelope from Aldershot, franked 4d. surface rate but forwarded by the Singapore P.O. to Darwin to be flown to the Island as there were no ships scheduled to visit the Island group. With clear dark “top copy” label (as opposed to the pale carbon copy) on blue paper “QANTAS/SURVEY FLIGHT/CATALINA/VH-EBA/DARWIN-COCOS/VIA DJAKARTA” on the reverse, tied by one on three “C. & W. LTD/30 MAY 51/COCOS” type 2 datestamps, minor cover faults, otherwise fine and rare. Photo. (Image1)
