1871 (March 7): Great Britain 1864/79 1 d. red pl. 138, three single examples used with 1867/80 1 s. green pl. 4, slight fault at top and wing margin folded around the edge of the envelope, used on 1871 cover from Ascension to Berlin; one 1 d. red tied by "ASCENSION" circular 20 mm. datestamp (March 17, code A) and the balance of the stamps cancelled by readable "INSUFFICIENTLY / STAMPED" handstamps in black presumably in lieu of an obliterator. 'London / Paid' datestamp (April 7) and circular 'PD' in red and reverse with Berlin arrival datestamp (April 9) in black.
