1897 Imperial Chinese Post ½c dull purple SG 96 complete pane of 20 with full margins at top & base and narrow inter-pane margins at left & right, second unit from left in top row with Large Colour Dot between 'CHINESE' and 'POST', top units with hinge remainders otherwise unmounted, a few blemishes on gum side, Cat £40+ for mounted.
1938-41 Sun Yat-sen Characters Watermark $20 ultramarine & purple Die III SG 500B complete sheet (10x5) with all margins (minor fault at L/L below one unit only) including 'PRINTED BY DAH TUNG BOOK CO.LTD. H.K.' imprint at base and Chinese characters imprint at top plus various guillotine guidelines and a reversed '20' at L/R which was apparently intended to have been trimmed off, some perf separation, a few adhesions & blemishes on gum side with minor gum thinning affecting one unit otherwise in margins only, Cat £1500+ for mounted.

The 'Kingdom' character (immediately to the left of the sun emblem at centre-top) on the re-engraved plates has a solid frame at left; on the original plates the character's outer frame has gaps at top-left & bottom-left.

1902 JM (Paris) Undivided Back artist card 'CHINE/LA COIFFURE/DE L'ANTIQUITE/A NOS JOURS' by Paul Dufresne being a series of hairstyles for fashionable women plus three dudes for good measure, unused. A really beautiful card.
1904 Alterocca Undivided Back artist card 'The Emperor of China gives andience [sic; for 'audience'] to the Foreign Ministers, soiled on the reverse, to GB with Hong Kong 4c tied by British PO in 'SHANGHAI' cds. An evocative image of both European imperialism & obsequiousness.

GERMAN POST OFFICES: 1915 printed Prisoner of War envelope with 'Hilfstation / fur Deutsche u. Osterr-Ungar Gefangene / in Siberien' imprint on the flap, to Pomerania with 4c on 10pf & 10c on 20pf tied by 'TIENTSIN' cds, red & black/white R label, 'WITZMITZ' arrival b/s, light vertical fold. [From late-1915, all POW mail was sent unstamped]
TAIWAN: 1942 Japanese Occupation British unstamped postcard to "2078653 Sapper MA Rooney, 288th Field Coy Royal Engineers, Singapore...c/- Japanese Red Cross, Tokyo" with 'NORWICH/NORFOLK' cancel, crowned 'PASSED/P.W.5917' British censor cachet in magenta, on arrival in Singapore endorsed "OVS 27/10/42" by the Bureau of Records & Enquiry at Changi for forwarding to an overseas camp, censored with Japanese boxed Sazawa Unit censor cachet in violet and marked "1 Ei" in red crayon characters to indicate Camp 1 English for Kinkaseki Camp in northern Taiwan, couple of minor blemishes. [Most next-of-kin were not advised where POWs were held until late-1942, but from January 1943 onwards mail from Great Britain was usually addressed directly to Taiwan]
