1939 cover airmail to Australia from Shanghai "Poste Restante" (return address) franked with Sun Yat-sen 15c and 20c paid tied '31.8.1939/SHANGHAI' cds (day before outbreak of WWII), by ship to Hong Kong with 'VICTORIA/3SP/1939' transit then airmail by Imperial/Qantas service with Melbourne '12SEP/1939' b/s and early 'PASSED BY/CENSOR' cachet [no 'V'] in blue on face, couple of light folds not affecting stamps.
1943 stampless cover endorsed "PRISONER OF WAR POST" from England (return address) to a civilian internee "Mr DW Laycock, 32 Route de Boissezon Apt 7, Shanghai China, British Civilian, c/o The Japanese Red Cross, Tokyo" with 'KINGSTON ON THAMES/SURREY' cancel, censored with British 'EXAMINER 3362' label and red Japanese chop used at Haiphong Road Camp, however endorsed "X 8" in blue crayon for delivery to Yangchow C Camp, a few blemishes. [Enemy aliens living in mainland China remained free until 23.1.1943 when the Japanese announced plans to intern them; while DW Laycock was held at Haiphong Road, it appears that this item was delivered to his wife in Yangchow C. See David Tett Volume 4 'Captives in Cathay' p227 for a similar item]
1945 (circa) 'austerity' re-fashioned envelope airmail to Australia with return address "Ernest Senger, 153 Liaoyang Road, Shanghai", unfranked with boxed 'Internee mail free/of postage/Shanghai P.O.' cachet in red on face, some aging marks & minor faults. From a liberated civilian internee within the Jewish Ghetto area.
1949red-band envelope from Zhongshan, Guangdong to Hong Kong paying $14,000 hyper-inflation rate franked with '$50' overprint on Revenues $300 Ship, Train & Plane green in complete sheets of 100 x2 plus part-sheet of 80 cancelled and affixed by the corners then wrapped around the cover, some adhesions & faults as to be expected. Remarkable survivor!
BRITISH POST OFFICES: 1904 (Aug 8) Japanese PPC endorsed written on board "S/S Wing Sang, Yokohama", to England with Hong Kong KEVII 4c tied 'SHANGHAI' British PO cds, message on view side reads in part "... we were detained here 13 days passing the Russians/Shanghai 6th arriving all well ...", minor aging marks. [Russian naval ships were in Chinese waters as part of the Russo-Japanese war, the major Battle of the Yellow Sea taking place on 10.10.1904]

[i11 was the designation for the Andaman Islands, which Japan occupied in late March 1942 after much of the British garrison was withdrawn following the fall of Burma]
NORTH KOREA: 1970 usage of Revolution Museum 40ch light blue Envelope with River Scene illustration at the base, airmail to Australia with '70.12.19/PYONGYANG' cds in violet, small corner fault at U/L. Scarce commercial usage to a non-Communist country.
