image 1968, 8 f. "The Whole Country is Red" (W14), the emblematic stamp with corner cancel "...1969.1...". Bright colours, well centred, backed (repaired) as usual (Yang W63).

In September 1968, all over mainland China the Cultural Revolution was celebrated. To commemorate this, China Post scheduled a postage stamp for Nov. 25, 1968.
This emblematic stamp was ordered to be recalled from sale on the day of issue due to concerns regarding the map of China considered incomplete by the authorities as it did not include the Dongsha- and Nansha-archipelagos of China.

image 1968, Great Victory of the Cultural Revolution 8 f. cancelled "He.. 1968.9...". Slight horizontal crease resp. corner creases, otherwise good appearance (Yang W82).

This stamp was prepared for use on 1 October, but was never issued. It shows Chairman Mao and Lin Biao in front of a victory celebration by population on the countryside. The issue was recalled and destroyed, after the Central Propaganda Work Conference, held on 27 September, 1968. The conference agreed that Chairman Mao's portraits, poems and directives should no longer be used on stamps. Most stamps were returned to Beijing, however, a few copies were sold in Hebei Province, before the issue date and the return order.

image 1968 (18 Sept.), Chairman Mao's Inscription to Japanese Labour Friend 8 f. black on red, prepared for use but not issued, cancelled "Hebei 1968.10.17", slight partial horizontal crease, excellent colour, perfectly centered (Yang W84).

Abbreviated "Japanese Worker" stamp, it was prepared for the 6th anniversary of Chairman Mao's Writings for the Japanese in 1968. It is claimed it became never officially issued due to objections by the Japanese government, and was recalled by a decision made by the Central Propaganda Work Conference. Post offices in Hebei province however had already started sellings the stamps, prior to the official date of issue and before the actual cancel / return order was received. It is reported that less than 10 copies survived. Very rare and and one of the exceptional stamps of the Cultural Revolution Period.
