image DR PHILLIP LAW - ANTARCTIC EXPLORER & FORMER 'ANARE' LEADER: celebratory group of items including  2004 signed letter from John Howard congratulating Dr Law on the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Mawson Antarctic Base stating "I view the raising of the Australian Flag over a rocky clearing in Horseshoe Bay on February the 13th 1954 as an event of national pride"; also supporting material incl. photograph of Phillip Law and wintering party raising the Australian flag and officially naming Mawson Station, colour photo of attendees at the 2004 Mawson Pioneer Luncheon,  plus stamps incl. AAT pre-decimal issues in mint blocks of 4, 1967 set to $1 on FDC, plus another FDC (5c only) signed by members of 1969 Mawson party, etc; many items signed by Phillip Law. (small qty) (Image)

image RANULPH FIENNES: colour photograph (28.5x21cm) signed "Best Wishes, Ran Fiennes, 2003" plus 1984 & 1991 PSEs first day issues, both signed by Fiennes, all neatly presented in display folder.[In 1992-93 Ranulph Fiennes (& Mike Stroud) completed the first unsupported crossing of the Antarctic Continent which became the longest unsupported polar journey in history.
