1860 part-entire signed "CP Woolley" to Sydney with NSW Diadems Imperf 1d orange-red SG 109 horizontal strip of 6 with almost full margins (a little cut-into at right) tied by six fair to very fine strikes of Rays '131' (rated RRR), 22mm 'GLADSTONE/FE6(?)/1860/=NSW=' b/s, largely very fine 29mm unframed 'SHIP-LETTER/ D /FE11/1860/ =SYDNEY=' arrival b/s. One of the most attractive Moreton Bay District covers we have handled. [The addressee, Henry Thomas Fox, was a mariner & marine surveyor. One coastal ship of which he was master was the Phantom, owned by Thomas Woolley, who was almost certainly related to the writer of this letter]

Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2007) states "very rare". [This design was adapted frim the intended Diamond Jubilee issue that had the years '1837' & '1897' in the tablets. The issued stamp had the tablets filled. The ACSC states this was "a plate proof block of 40...It was rejected...It is probable that not the whole of the block has survived. There is a strip of 10 in the HL White Collection in the Mitchell Library." An example sold at the Prestige auction of 14.4.2005 for $838] The illustration is above Lot 209.
