image Interesting collection remainders with a duplicated array of basic stamps with some better values plus many multiples including BNG ½d pair with full Plate Number '1', a few Monogram pieces including 'ONE PENNY' on 4d block of 6 (with PNG cds), imprints including Bicolours 4d strip of 3 with forged 'OS', a useful range of other 'OS' including Bicolours 6d 'POSTACE' at Left in pair (dubious 'OS') and several blocks of 4 including Lithos to 6d, then three receipts with Pictorials 1d (very scarce but defective) and a range of mostly Official covers including BNG ½d & 2d on large-part cover to GB, Postal Cards 1d & 1½d x5 (one CTO with address added), 1908 registration receipt from Samarai & 1940 receipt for registered letter list with double-circle Port Moresby cds in violet; condition variable but much is fine to very fine. image 1901-05 British New Guinea Watermark Horizontal Thick Paper 1/- black & bright orange SG 7, full vibrant colour, exceptional centring, the upper units are lightly mounted and the lower units are unmounted, Cat £340++, for mounted singles. Superb. Most examples of the BNG 1/- show varying degrees of oxidation, that affects the orange and, in extreme cases, renders it black!

image 1907 Small 'Papua' Overprints Watermark Horizontal Thick Paper 2/6d black & brown as SG 37 but with the Overprint Significantly Misplaced to the Left, marginal block of 4 from the left of the sheet, light tropicalisation of the gum which is a characteristic of the issue, Cat £200+, for normal singles. We don't recall having seen such a pronounced shift of the overprint.

image 1961 Native Police 5/- Patrolman complete sheet of 60 with the sheet number in red in the lower-right margin, a couple of trivial gum bends in the margins only, all units unmounted & very fine. Unissued & rare. The TPNG Post Office official bulletin of January 1962 stated that a forthcoming issue would feature "a Native Affairs patrol ..." It is believed the issue was abandoned in September 1962 and all but three (?) sheets of the stamps were destroyed. A lower-left corner block of 4 with sheet number (*/**) and a lower-right corner block of 4 (**; one unit creased) sold at our auctions of 12.2.2010 & 17.2.2012 respectively for $2415 each. Retail $45,000 for singles.
