RARE S/L "PORT MORESBY" MARK ON FIRST FLIGHT COVER, ETC: Jul. 1934 "Faith in Australia" Regd. experimental flight cover from Port Moresby to UK via Lae and Australia. Flown by Captain Ulm, cover has a violet, octagonal Papua/Australia/First Official/Air Mail" cachet with 5d pictorial + 3d Air mail franking cancelled Port Moresby and a further franking (30 Jul. 1934) at Lae of 3 x 6d bistre plus 2d red 'Bird of Paradise' Air Mail opts. alongside h/s Lae Regd. mark. Endorsed on rear of cover "Sender: Chief Postmaster" above the very rare s/l "PORT MORESBY" in blue (Lee Type 16 rated "G" - extremely rare). Also 27 Aug 1959 "OHMS" printed manila Air Mail env. from Port Moresby to Melbourne having s/l "PORT MORESBY" mark in violet (well outside latest known date for this Lee Type 16 mark) and s/l "SERVICE DES POSTES" mark also in violet.
